Another Side to Ferguson

For John, BLUFThere are these little sparks in events that can light a new path.  Nothing to see here; just move along.

The situation in Ferguson is probably not all Black and White.  Hopes for peace hang on the issue of if there are inter-racial connections.  For example, there is this headline in a Web-based publication:  "Black Residents Armed With Assault Rifles Stand Guard Outside White-Owned Business During Ferguson Riots".  Well, actually, it is one resident with a rifle and three with pistols, but still….
A group of black Ferguson residents armed with high-powered rifles stood outside a white-owned business in the city during recent riots, protecting it from rioters that looted and burned other businesses.

. . .

One of the residents, a 6-foot-8 man named Derrick Johnson, held an AR-15 assault rifle as he stood in a pickup truck near that store’s entrance. Three other black Ferguson residents joined Johnson in front of the store, each of them armed with pistols.

. . .

The men said they felt indebted to the store’s owner, Doug Merello, who employed them over the course of several years.

The men said Merello always treated them with respect.

Thank God for the Second Amendment.

Thank God for Citizens who can reach across lines to support peace, law and order.

Regards  —  Cliff

"Assault Rifle" is a bogus term and even The New York Times has admitted that fact.

When will America wake up to the fact that, while injustices certainly occur daily throughout the land, and while some of those injustices can be laid at the feet of intolerance......the racial animus claimed by the media is simply editorial hyperbole of the worst kind.

It goes back once more to having the ability to think objectively and independently......a capability that is God-given and not so widely employed. Far too many Americans read something or hear one of the hoards of self-proclaimed "authorities" say something, and it immediately becomes gospel. If we look back in history, we will discover that as technology has extended the reach of "journalism" the hysterical presentation factor has risen. America NEEDS....no...MUST remember, TV and print "news" or "information provider" is one of the most successful ENTERTAINMENT industries in the history of mankind.

This is quite literally a situation in which simply shutting up will exponentially decrease the tensions.
