The EU

Google says the EU requires a notice of cookie use (by Google) and says they have posted a notice. I don't see it. If cookies bother you, go elsewhere. If the EU bothers you, emigrate. If you live outside the EU, don't go there.

Want A Political Appointment?

For John, BLUFGetting a political appointment is a political process.

If you are interested in a political appointment in a Presidential Administration this article might be of interest—"Want to Work in the White House?"

The author has experience in this process:

Rosa Brooks is a law professor at Georgetown University and a Schwartz senior fellow at the New America Foundation.  She served as a counselor to the U.S. defense undersecretary for policy from 2009 to 2011 and previously served as a senior advisor at the U.S. State Department.  Her weekly column runs every Wednesday and is accompanied by a blog, By Other Means.
I know the US Ambassador to a Middle East Nation from my time in the Air Force.  He and his wife worked hard to help Senator Barack Obama get elected President.  That is the amount of help I can provide you.

AKA....patronage. Of course, if you bring your check for $500k to Big Daddy Barack, you can buy yourself a weekly sit down with the man...and who knows what other perks. We've move far beyond a snooze in the Lincoln bedroom.....

Sort of brings a whole new dimension to the Citizen's United decision. I guess it has always been the American way. Anything worth having has a price.....and if you want it...you gotta pay the scratch.

There IS a distinct and privileged political class in America today. There is practically no chance whatsoever that the average citizen can rise to high public office. In fact, it is impossible on one's own. You have to have huge....HUGE....infusions of cash in order to mount a campaign for anything beyond local and perhaps state legislative office. Forget it for governor or national office. To rise to that you must either be married to a ketchup queen or sell your soul to other very well to do folks...in which case..you will be nothing more than a repeater device....a mouthpiece.......a cheap shill.

if we had focused more on enforcing state's rights and local power....we wouldn't be confronted by this dilemma. But now that we've centralized so much power at one level.....only the rich and powerful may apply.
