One scene in the film, in which Hitler launches into a furious tirade upon finally realizing that the war is truly lost, has become a staple of internet videos. In these videos, the original audio of Ganz's voice is retained, but new subtitles are added so that he now seems to be reacting instead to some setback in present-day politics, sports, popular culture, or everyday life.... By 2010, there were thousands of such parodies, including many in which a self-aware Hitler is incensed that people keep making Downfall parodies...Now there is one out which looks at Hitler's reaction to the Roanoke speech by President Obama. The parody begins with Hitler discussing the expansion of his Schnellimbiss chain, McSchnitzel, which he has built up over time and hopes to take into other nations. Slowly his staff informs him that the President has said that he, Hitler, didn't make McSchnitzel, someone else did. There is the tirade and then, in the end, Hitler asks "When will it be November".
I wasn't going to share the URL for two reasons. One is that some of the humor is scatological. The other is the fear that it will be encouraging a descent to Godwin's Law. However, it seems the URL is dead on You Tube ("This video is currently unavailable"). But, this parody brings up a question. Should there be a corollary to Godwin's Law that says "The longer an event is discussed online, the probability of a Downfall parody approaches 1."
