Younger People Like Obama More

A Gallop Poll released for Memorial Day shows that Younger cohorts are more likely to like President Obama's job performance.

The other thing noted, and I liked this, is that active duty military were more reluctant to reveal their opinion of the President's job performance.
... active-duty military—particularly those under 40—are significantly more likely to say they have no opinion about Obama's job performance than is the case for all adults in the same age group.

There are several possible explanations for this finding. Those on active duty may in general be less involved in politics and current affairs and thus less likely to hold an opinion on Obama or other political matters. Or, it could be that members of the active-duty military are adhering to a general nonpartisan norm within the military culture, and are therefore less willing to express an opinion to a survey interviewer, regardless of what they may actually believe.
This is as it should be.  While I voted in every election I could while on active duty, I was always registered "Declines to State" (the California version of "Unenrolled").

Hat tip to the Instapundit.

So the military is not happy with him? Why? He has kept three illegal wars going supplying hundreds of thousands with good paying jobs, free medical services, and many other benefits. So maybe they want him to start a few more illegal wars so they can get better benefits and pay?
I cannot see any reason why the military people do not like him. He gives them everything they want and more so.

I am not sure I follow the first comment.  For the folks who signed up for active duty they get the jobs and the free medical and other benefits whether there is a war or not.  I will grant you that for Reservists and National Guard types it is different and the survey didn't seem to break down between the "Regulars" and the "Christmas Help".

The other thing is that the younger people seemed to like him more than the older folks.  I put that down to the older folks being give the "Ends, Ways and Means" discussion several times.  That is to say, "Strategy" is matching one's Ends (Goals), Ways (Opeations) and Means (Forces).  Some of the older folks may think that the current three legged stool that is Ends, Ways and Means in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya may have one leg shorter than the other two, causing sitting on the stool to be uncomfortable.  Thus the discomfort with the current Administration.

As for the "free medical and other benefits", I am thinking the current collection of wars is going to result in DoD recommending those benefits be reduced for military retirees—another reason for non-support.

As for "illegal wars", I am thinking Congress OK'd Iraq and Afghanistan and have the ability to cut off funding whenever they wish—if they have what it takes.  Regarding Libya, I do think the President has avoided the War Powers Resolution.  All he has to do is say "I did it, with my own little bow and arrow, please tell me it is OK" and it will be OK; well except for Dennis Kucinich, but he is only one of 435.

And, I am betting there are a lot of Service personnel serving overseas, having just returned, or preparing to go who actually think that we need to chase the Taliban as well as al Qaeda, to help the People of Afghanistan and who actually think that helping Iraq get back on its feet is a good thing.  As for Libya, it is only a few airmen and SOF and that number isn't big enough to cause a ripple.

The Pentagon's top officer said Thursday that servicemembers will likely see cuts in pay and benefits as the military plumbs its budget for nearly half a trillion dollars in savings over the next 12 years..
